The present study represent formulation and evaluation of Rajat Bhasma containing hydroalcoholic extract of Convolvulus pluricaulis. The extract of Convolvulus pluricaulis was obtained by continuous heat extraction method by using soxhlet extraction process. Rajat Bhasma was prepared by Samanya Shodhana, Vishesha Shodhana, Marana, Pishti formation, Kajjali formation, Kupipaka, Putapaka using medias like Kanji, Takra, Kulattha Kwatha, Gomutra and Tila Taila, Nimbu Swarasa, Gritakumari Swarasa as per Ayurvedic Formulary of India. Rajata Bhasma was analyzed on various parameters like Varna, Nishchandratva, Rekhapurnatvam, Varitaratvam, Unama test, Sukshmatva, Anjana sannibha, Gatarsatva, Nirdhuma, Apunarbhava, Amla pareeksha. X-ray diffraction study of the Rajat Bhasma showed a sharp peak indicates its crystalline nature. Based on Field-emission Scanning Electron Microscopy study, mean particle size of Rajata Bhasma is in nanometer range. Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy analysis was used to analyze elemental composition of the samples. FT-IR study indicates compatibility of shankhapushpi extract with excipients used in Rajat Bhasma.
